If he makes all things beautiful then when is it my time?

I am by far the most impatient human on the face of the planet. I hate to wait….especially if it is for presents!! I am a bad gift giver and receiver. I take the stance of “why not go ahead and get it so you can use it!!” This drives my husband INSANE! I remember our first Christmas together, I wanted to know what he got me SO bad. I knew it was something good. I’ll never forget my, now mother-in-love, said “it starts with a P and ends with a T!” I spent all night trying to figure out what started with a P and ended with a T. Now, for those of you smarter than me, you probably figured out that she meant “present!” My, at the time boyfriend, laughed so hard! I can remember him saying “it will be better if you wait!” That Christmas he got me the most beautiful necklace and it was definitely worth the wait.

I did the same thing when I knew he was on the verge of proposing. I would spend so much time trying to find out when he was going to “pop the question!” He told me, “Sydney, it is going to come when you least expect it to. The more you try to figure out when it will happen the longer it will take. Just be still…”

How often are we that way with God? I wonder how many times he has said “it will be better if you wait.” Sometimes we cannot see the beauty in the waiting. We get so impatient that we forget that God is all knowing. He knows exactly when the time is right. Is God saying to you “the more you try to figure it out, the longer it will be?” We must stop trying to play God with our circumstances and remember that he is the one who makes our timing beautiful.

Dear Lord,

Help me to stop trying to take the timing of my circumstances in my own hands. Help me to know that you are the author of my beautiful timing and know what is right for me. Help me to be still and know that you are God and you make all things new. Help me to see your hand in my waiting season.

In your name, Amen
