Somebody is watching me…it’s my ANXIETY

May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord will be with all of you. -2nd Thessalonians 3:16

When this verse came up on my devotional today, I just laughed. I said, “God I sure don’t feel peace right now.” So many times we feel that giant monster of anxiety creeping over us. It’s hard to feel peace in those moment. I remember as a child being so scared of a storm. I hated when the thunder would rumble, because I was so scared that a tornado was coming right after it. In those moments peace was the last thing on my mind. However, the storm always passed and that was my favorite time. The sky would be painted with beautiful colors and you could smell the lingering rain in the air. Now that…that was peaceful.

So many times we live in a constant state of anxiety. Just like the song says, “it’s always watching me.” We live in a constant storm and feel like peace is something we will never have.

God never called us to live in anxiety. He called us to live a life of peace. He wants to set you free from that monster called anxiety. He says in 2nd Thessalonians 3:16 (and in COUNTLESS other passages) that He is with you. Think about that for a second…. The God who created your situation, that’s causing your anxiety, is with you. He walks beside you and gives you HIS peace. All you have to do is breathe it in. Anxiety is not the one watching you…God is, and His peace will fill you in the middle of your anxiety.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. -Colossians 3:15
